  13. Trade execution speed is a critical factor for strategies that depend on quick market entry and exit, such as scalping or day trading or news trading. Fast execution can mean the difference between capturing a desired price point and missing a profitable opportunity due to market fluctuations. Slow execution may result in slippage, where the trade is executed at a different price than intended, which can be particularly costly in volatile markets. Consider a leverage ratio of 10:1. If you invest USD 1,000, you can hold a position worth USD 10,000. This setup substantially increases your potential profits, but it also magnifies potential losses because they are calculated on the full value of the trade—not just your initial investment. For instance, a 40% movement in the market can result in a gain or loss of USD 4,000, which not only wipes out your capital but could lead to additional debt if your account balance cannot cover the loss.

The trade by barter system is the oldest method of exchange, dating back to 6000 BC and is often seen as the building block behind the formation of forex trading in the later years. Under the barter system, goods were exchanged for other goods. The plan later evolved, and goods like animal hides and skin, salt and food spices which were of high demand, became popular mediums of exchange. However, the 6th century BC observed the production of gold coins. Thus, gold coins adopted the role of currency for its portability, divisibility, uniformity, limit of supply, namely significant characteristics of money today. Indeed, the concept went on to replace the barter system. Thin metal threads were embedded in banknotes in 1940. This acted as protection against forgery during the Second World War, when the British economy was under threat. The pound is not only used in the UK; variations also circulate in Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, Saint Helena, Ascension, Tristan da Cunha, and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
